2012 - #4 - Racewall Cowdenbeath - 17/3/12 |
Meeting 4 of 2012 and the 4th different venue, this time Cowdenbeath Racewall. There was a time I'd have been at Cowdenbeath five or six times a season, but it's been a while since they'd a major F2 title, the results have become a little predictable for domestic meetings, boat prices are through the roof and even when I had planned to go last season the meeting was snowed off.
From my understanding of F2s at Cowdie it has become a bit roundy roundy with Moodie and Burgoyne sharing the wins, this meeting was no different with Burgoyne taking the final and Moodie winning the rest. Paul Reid had a roll in heat 2.
In the saloons there was a hat trck of wins for Kyle Irvine And for the 15 car turnout there was some great racing, including a great battle between Alexander and Shevill at the end of heat two.
For lightning rods Cowdie had 8 cars which is quite a come down when your used to numbers in the twenties, Lindsay Wilson took the final.
With only 7 rookie bangers they can be best described as crap.
On the whole, I'm not sure if Cowdie has become much poorer than it was, or if our racing has become much better, twenty plus cars used to be a big thing, but its the norm in so many of our own classes now. One thing is for sure compared to £13 in to Cowdie where two of the classes couldn't get double figures in numbers, entry to our racing is a bargain, although their burgers are only two quid.
Approx Car Turnout: 51 cars (7 rookies, 6 Lightning Rods, 15 Saloons, 23 F2s)
