Hazlett’s Irish & McIvor’s Fiver at Tullyroan |
Jack Hazlett won the Ninja Kart Irish Championship at Tullyroan Oval on Sunday while Kieran McIvor won the Unlimited National bangers Nutshaker title for the fifth consecutive time.
Prior to the meeting I pointed out to Jonny one of our greatest engineering feats of 2015, I don’t wish to scud it but since we put a roof on the NIOvalTV filming platform no one has got wet at Tullyroan, or Aghadowey for that matter….. no need to thank us.
Banger drivers might feel differently, but the Ninja Kart Irish Championship was the big event of the day. Sam McNiece led from pole for half the distance and was being chased down by Jack Hazlett and Shea Fegan, with young Fegan starting to look the quickest of the three once they got up to speed. The lead three had broken well away from the pack and by mid distance were catching traffic and it was in that traffic McNiece tripped up and Hazlett seized the lead and got a bit of a break on Fegan too. Hazlett went on to take the win with Fegan second and Adam McFall third. I think all three are moving on to bigger things next season, so it was a fitting way to round out their Ninja career. Hazlett also claimed the win in the Revenge race.
The big stuff was back in town for the bangers with the Unlimiteds in action for their Nutshaker. A decent turnout of cars assembled and it was Kieran McIvor that took the win in the big race, BooBoo took the All comers and Ryan Patton won the Destruction Derby to take a clean sweep for Team Buckle.
The ProStocks were action packed all day and seen a final win in the McElmeel Supreme Series for newly crowned European Champion Gregg McMullan. Nicky Lowry won the 1300 Stock Cars which were also action packed and Vince Litter took a hat trick of wins in the Lightning Rods which weren’t without drama.
