2011 - #42 - Nuttscorner Oval - 15/10/11
The penultimate meeting of the season at Nuttscorner Oval featuring the 2 Litre Hot Rod Irish Championship (that's the "closed" one for people like me with an F2 Background or other classes that run an "open" as well as a "closed"), the Stock Rods King of Nuttscorner, the Juniors and the small matter of the Lightning Rods Points Championship to clear up.

As I've said before, what merits a good night of racing and a bad night of racing is all down to your perspective, or what you expect to get out of it, a good night for me involves getting some decent photos, even if the racing isn't that great, and on the flip side I can have bad nights when the racing is top drawer.
Dark + Wet = Flash Photography + Wet lenses, that alone is probably enough to give you an insight into how my night went.

I'd been looking forward to the 2 Litre Irish, Forty something cars eligable, floodlights, I was going to make an extra effort and set my spare camera up on a tripod to get some long exposed shots which look the muts nuts under the lights, in reality the car turn out was disapointing, given that there has been meetings with upwords of 30 2 Litre's, the weather was grim and the second camera didn't leave the house, nor did the tripod.

On the track, Derek Martin led home the 2 Litre Irish which was an eventful race, Derek was then docked 2 places presumably for contact, which gave the win to Andrew Murray with Wayne Woolsey second and Martin relegated to third. I thought it was a bit harsh, but will assume I missed something at the other end.
Murray very nearly came right through the field in the revenge race, finishing second to Mark Madill and only 0.001s behind Madill as they crossed the line.

The Stock Rods were eventful with Derek McMillan quickly adapting to life in the senior class, taking a heat 2 win and he'd shown well in heat one. Raymond Harper took the King of Nuttscorner with Stephen McCready second and Alan McCormack third.

The Juniors were down on numbers, but seen a final win for Shane McMillan.
Gordy McKee took the spoils in the Lightning Rod final, while Stephen Emerson did enough to win the points title, adided by an opening heat win.

One to go at Nuttscorner Oval for this season!
